# For Listeners

A simple guide for attendees connecting to your Audion stream.

## How to Connect

### Method 1: Scan the QR Code (Recommended)

1. **Open your camera app** on your phone or tablet
2. **Point it at the QR code** in the bulletin or on the sign
3. **Tap the notification** that appears
4. Your browser will open automatically

### Method 2: Enter the URL

1. **Open any web browser** (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
2. **Type in the URL** shown on the display
   - Example: `192.168.1.100:8080/listen`
3. **Press Go/Enter**

## Starting Audio

1. You'll see a page with a **"Start Listening"** button
2. **Tap the button** to begin streaming
3. The button will change to **"Stop Listening"**
4. You'll see an audio level meter moving with the sound

> 🎧 **Headphones recommended** for the best experience and privacy

## During the Stream

### Audio Level Meter

The green/yellow/red bar shows the current audio level. This helps you know the stream is working even if you can't hear it yet.

### Connection Status

Below the button, you'll see:
- **"Connected - Listening"** - Everything is working!
- **"Waiting for stream..."** - Service hasn't started yet
- **"Connection lost"** - Try reconnecting

## Stopping Audio

1. **Tap "Stop Listening"** when you're ready to disconnect
2. Your device will stop playing audio
3. You can tap "Start Listening" again anytime to reconnect

## Tips for Best Experience

### Volume Control

- Use your **device's volume buttons** to adjust loudness
- The app audio level meter is just for reference
- Start at a lower volume and increase gradually

### Battery Life

**📱 Keep your screen on** during the service:
- iOS devices pause audio when the screen locks
- Adjust your auto-lock setting: Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock
- Consider bringing a charger or power bank

**💡 Tip:** Reduce screen brightness to save battery while keeping it on

### Connection Tips

- **Stay connected to WiFi** throughout the service
- Don't switch between WiFi and cellular data
- Keep your phone within WiFi range
- Closer to the router = better connection

### Using Headphones

**Wired headphones:** Plug in and go - no setup needed

**Bluetooth headphones:**
1. Pair them with your device before the service starts
2. Some Bluetooth headphones add slight delay
3. Wired headphones have the least delay

## Common Questions

### Do I need to download an app?

**No!** Audion works in your web browser. No app installation needed.

### What devices work?

- ✅ iPhone (iOS 12 or later)
- ✅ iPad (iOS 12 or later)
- ✅ Android phones (Android 7 or later)
- ✅ Android tablets
- ✅ Laptops and computers

Basically, if it has a browser, it works!

### Will this use my cellular data?

**No.** Audion uses your  WiFi network only. Make sure you're connected to the WiFi network, not using cellular data.

### Can I share the connection with someone?

Yes! They just need to scan the same QR code or visit the same URL on their device.

### What if I lose connection?

1. Check that you're still on WiFi
2. Tap "Stop Listening" then "Start Listening" again
3. If that doesn't work, refresh your browser page
4. As a last resort, rescan the QR code

### Why did audio stop when I locked my phone?

This is an iOS limitation. Keep your screen on during the service, or adjust your auto-lock settings.

## Privacy & Security

- Your audio stream stays on the **local WiFi network only**
- No personal information is collected
- No account creation required
- Audio is not recorded or stored
